With cold weather coming, now is the perfect time to prepare your Fort Collins custom home for winter. Here are just a few things you need to do.
Clean the Gutters
Clogged gutters are a huge pain to clean, but it’s better than suffering the damage they can cause to your home. So as autumn sheds the last of the trees’ leaves, grab that ladder, a garbage bag and some heavy gloves and dig right in. Of course, if you really hate cleaning gutters and you don’t have a teenaged son to pawn the chore off, then hire somebody to do it.
In the summer, your ceiling fans should be spinning counter-clockwise to keep the air circulating properly. So it then makes perfect sense that your ceilings fans need to be spinning in the opposite direction in the winter. Basically, you want to be pushing air down when temperatures are hot and pulling air up when temperatures are cold.
Now is the time to pull your sweaters and winter coats out from their summer storage and place them in your closet. At the same time, you should be packing away your tank tops and shorts until spring.
Don’t wait until it’s too late. While the weather is still relatively warm, you need to scrub down your patio furniture and cover it up or store it. While you are at it, you should also clean and store your grill.
Now is as good of a time as any to clean out your fireplace and stock up on wood for the winter.
